Every time I open my mouth to respond to this, only a small squeaking sound comes out, and a vein on my forehead throbs and threatens to explode, so I'll just give you the quote:
"[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it's a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards."
-Mike Huckabee, Warren, MI 1/14/08

Oh really? Well, people have been doing that very thing since man created god. Also, we've been interpreting his/her message so that it doesn't conflict with our little egos since history began.

So, no Mike, it wouldn't be easier.

Unbelievable!

As much as the rapture-ready right would love him to be, he still has to appeal to many outside of that demographic. If we see that happening, that's the time to worry. But yeah, he's a threat, to be sure.

The ironic aspect to the huckster is that he appears to be the most sane among republicans. But anyone who believes that the world is only 6,000 years old is anything but sane. Stupid? Oh yeah. Whacked? You bet. But not sane.

Slacktavist did a lovely article on this today, comparing Huckabee to King. Just great. Have you read it yet?

Yeah, it was very good, made a lot of sense. It was kind of funny, I didn't notice that it was Slacktivist (I get him on a feed on my flist). I thought it was someone on MyDD, and I'm thinking "wow, this sounds like Slacktivist." Ah durrr.

Favorite line: "To accuse him of endorsing theocracy here is simply to quote him accurately."

Please recall that this is the same man who said that the immigration issue is a problem because of the 1million aborted fetuses who would otherwise be doing these jobs...

The thing is, these are not the quotes you hear over and over again- if they were I think more folks would think he's a maniac.
